Why does it cost money to come to Brownies? All Brownie Leaders and helpers are volunteers so all of the money you pay goes to helping the girls make the most of their Brownie adventure. The kind of things that the weekly subs pay for are:
In addition to subs, we ask that you pay census yearly. This is a cost passed on to us from Girlguiding UK which pays for the administration costs, publicity and the running costs associated with such a large charity. This term we are pushing to claim GiftAid on all of the money you give us so if you are a UK taxpayer, and we haven't already asked, please stop by at the start or end of a meeting and fill in a gift aid declaration for us! This could bring in roughly £300 per year for the unit allowing us to subsidise some of our excursions and pack holidays, passing on the savings to you! It is our belief that no girl should be prevented from joining or engaging fully in the movement for financial reasons. There are grants and bursaries available to lower income families to support the cost of subs, pack holidays and excursions. Just come and talk to one of the leaders if you feel this could help you. | What kind of costs are there? Census: Census is paid yearly at the beginning of the Easter term. The 2013 census fee was £24.25 per Brownie. Subs: £30/term As of Summer term 2013 we are changing the way we charge subs, moving to a termly rather than a weekly charge, averaging out the cost per week over the year to make our GiftAid accounting more straightforward. Subs are due at the start of every new term (Winter, Easter and Summer). Pack Holiday: £30-£40/holiday Each holiday is different as we juggle different venues, different themes and different activities. As a unit we try to subsidise every pack holiday as much as possible to pass on the lowest additional cost to you. We tend to have two Pack Holidays per year, one in the Winter/Spring and another in the Summer. Excursions: Variable |
